In my experience, it just works. I've had no difficulty getting the
kernel to recognize CF cards via a PCMCIA adapter under either RedHat or
Debian. On my ancient P166 laptop, they're seen as /dev/hdc.

The Portland State Aerospace Society (a rocketry group) uses a 128MB CF
card for the root filesystem of the Linux-driven flight computer. Check

hello, James!). Perhaps he'll chime in with real details.
