[PLUG] Need ideas of where to go to get online

What sort of hardware and software is needed for this kind of wireless
access? I'm about to purchase a new notebook and would like to be able to
get access wherever I can find it while traveling, especially in Ireland.

(Most likely I'll get an Apple iBook w/ G3 processor. and dual-boot it
with Linux, and I have zero knowledge of networking in general, let alone
wireless, so any comments would be helpful.)
