[PLUG] PLUG Moderation Thoughts/Advice

No, it's not a moderated list.

The list was moved from an 'open' list (any message sent to the list 
address from ANY address would get through) to a 'subscribe-only' list 
(only subscribers can post) because we were getting quite a bit of spam. 
  South African money laundering scheme, Viagra ads, standard Porn spam, 
etc.  There was quite a hubub about it, and at the time the list admin 
was too busy to take care of it and/or research what was needed to get 
it done.  A couple of us in the #orlug irc channel (on 
irc.openprojects.net) figured out what was needed and I made a request 
to the list admin to help with the job.

So we changed the list to a subscribe-only list.  There was no one 
person who caused the change, and no legitimate posts were the catalyst. 
  In the end, it was a particulary graphic sex advert that caused the 
biggest uproar (and no, I don't have a copy ;).

The only time any moderation is necessary is when someone posts from a 
non-subscribed address.  Since your message made it through without any 
user intervention, you are just fine.
