Hello

The base Linux system (bls) distribution V0.4 is available on
http://bls.sf.net .

This base Linux system (bls) distribution is a tar ball image of a
configured, functional, running Linux system that's ready to load-and-go
onto a bare-metal box. Once loaded, configuring your networking
environment is about all that needs to be done.

Use bls as is or as a base for building Linux systems. The bls
distribution is network centric. Add or remove rpm packages to fit your
needs. Download the config file and compile a kernel the way you want
it.

Creating new Linux systems starts with downloading the bls tar ball
image and then installing it onto bare- metal boxes using tomsrtbt.

Selecting a set of runtime kernel parameters determines if the bls
distribution becomes a workstation, server, firewall, or router.

Systems built using the bls distribution may be run using a regular
console, a serial console, or totally headless. A Linux laptop running
minicom makes an excellent serial console for plugging into headless
routers and other Linux appliances created using bls.

Speaking of laptops, the bls distribution has the right stuff for
building Linux laptops from bare metal.

A ready to run Linux system is ready for use in about 10 minutes.

The base for bls distribution is the Red Hat 7.3 distribution:

Base Linux System release 4 - Mon Jun 3 14:04:00 PDT 2002
Red Hat Linux release 7.3 (Valhalla)
Kernel 2.4.18-4custom-bls-i486-4 on an i586

I hope you enjoy using the bls distribution as much as I enjoy producing
it.

Thanks ...John
