These days IDE drives (7200rpm) are becoming seemingly as fast as SCSI 
drives, right?
It's all good until you want to start doing multiple reads and writes, 
this is where IDE's performance goes down.
SCSI supports multiple reads and writes (you can have 3 scsi drives on 
the same channel).
IDE isn't going to perform very well when the drives are sitting on the 
same channel...

In short, the more drives you add to an IDE RAID array, the worse it 
will perform when compared to scsi.
