[PLUG] configuring a server without X

What apps need to be configured?  Most will have a text based file that
you can edit directly if there is no utility available.  Since I'm not
sure what the server is going to be used for I can't provide details on
where these files are though.  Another option would be to use Webmin
(http://www.webmin.com).  If you could get Webmin running and the
computer networked, you could remotely configure a lot of things through
a web browser.

I have a friend(?) who believes that a 'server' doesn't need X, and
therefore puts minimal vid support (low end vid card and small cheap
monitor) on them. Once they're running, the monitor is moved away...

He's asked me for help, but some of the tools I have found for
configuring want the GUI, and with no X support available ....

Any ideas? Can you get there from here?
