  Thank you, Steve.

I noticed the .Xdefaults, too. So I made a symlink from
.Xdefaults-salmo.appl-ecosys.com to .Xdefaults but that made no difference.

There are no hostname-specific references in any of the files in .wprc/.
There is a file there called rshepard.hst, but the only 'salmo' that shows
up is in the string 'salmon'.

As I write, I'd doing a forced restore from the weekly backup of two
Fridays ago. That was when it was working OK. I need to force the restore
because all files in /usr1/wp8/ are as new or newer than those on tape. Of
course.

OK. I just confirmed that it *is* something host-name specific! I logged
in on the other workstation with a different user name and was able to
invoke WordPerfect with no problem. So, if we cannot find where it's looking
for a host name of 'salmo' and finding 'salmo.appl-ecosys.com', I'll
probably have to reinstall it from the cdrom. Wonder if I can just install
over what's there without removing everything first.

Many thanks,

Rich
