[PLUG] Code Development

I need to work in a language that allows the
development of X applications. I checked KDevelop,
which came with my KDE installation, and am going to
try that instead of purchasing Code Warrior.

"Developing Linux Applications: KDE Edition" is
available to support KDevelop (from Powell's) for
those who prefer printed books. You'll still have
something left over from the $149.

I am using KDE 2.2 because that's what comes with
Caldera 3.1, no binary version of KDE 3.0 being yet
available for Caldera. I think KDE 3.0 could be
compiled from source for this purpose. Would it be a
good idea to try?
