[PLUG] "No medium found"

My CD-RW plays music CD's and reads files from them
when the CD is not mounted. However, when a CD is
mounted (even as root) it gives the message: "No
medium found." Has anyone else encountered such a
problem? My kernel version is 2.4.13, if that gives
any insight.
