Hello,
Does anyone know of a way to install OpenOffice (or StarOffice - from
now on i'll just say OpenOffice, but this applies to both) on a computer
in such a way that all users automatically have icons in their menu's
which will open the program (and preferably so the 2 MB ~/OpenOffice
directory from "Workstation Install" is not needed)?
This is for school computers, which have lots of users (who are K-8) -
so having each user run the install is out of the question IMHO.
I thought about just doing the "workstation install" for one user and
then moving the ~/OpenOffice directory which was created to say, /opt/,
and then making a symlink from each users ~/OpenOffice/ to
/opt/OpenOffice/, but it seems that the username is repeated quite often
in files within ~/OpenOffice. And it seems that OpenOffice checks for
~/OpenOffice and starts the installer if that directory isn't found.
Any ideas on this?
Thanks,
~Peter
