I invited my administrator to learn more about Linux and the Open Source
environment by reading the posts to this list.  While I knew that much of
what would be read would be beyond her knowledge, I wanted her to
recognize the level of support/expertise that is available and would
hopefully encourage our agency to take a serious look at an alternative
system.

Unfortunately, today was the first day that she really paid attention to
the posts.  You can perhaps imagine my embarrassment when she presented me
with printer copies of this thread!

While I am sold on Linux, I may never get my management to look at an
alternative operating system seriously.  One may reason that they should
not be so shallow and judge everyone in open source/Linux by the
actions/words of a few....but, now I have a much larger mountain to climb.


Perhaps this is reason enough to move topics that lurk on the
fringes of appropriateness to another list.
