But what is rude BESIDES rude?  I know there is such a thing as rudeness,
but I don't think it applies here.

I'm trying to tell people that they should give everyone the benefit of
the doubt and try to find the best possible light in which to view a
person and their actions.  In this situation, there is a perfectly logical
and internally coherent way to view these actions without negativity or
malice.

At least TRY to give people the benefit of the doubt.
