yes, I think you misunderstand shell parsing. this is
described in detail in the "EXPANSION" section of the bash
man page. globbing happens after a command is split into
words, the globbing generates a list of words, it doesn't
get concatenated together and re-split. all unix shells I
can think of are like that.
