WAS (RE: [PLUG] Reviews of RedHat 8.0 - is it worth $150?) Now: SuSE Update?

Which brings up a totally "newbie" question: I have SuSE 6.1. If I
load it, and get all the updates via the web, is it equivalent to SuSE
8.0? Never really thought of it that way...

Hmm same here. I won a copy of SuSE 5.0 or something roughly that old
in a
raffle at a Linux user group meeting. Stuck with it ever since then.
The
online update stuff has worked quite well (and I don't have to pay a fee

for access). SuSE's got several mirrors that are automatically
downloaded
into the update app.

I've never had any problems with getting things with the online update.

Sometimes the speeds are slow (I managed to do an update the day that
SuSE
8.1 was released), but I got everything. I didn't even know that RH
cost
money for guaranteed access. That would have made me run in the other
direction if I hadn't already been a SuSE fan. I hope that SuSE doesn't

start doing that.

Best,
Kyle
