Thanks, Tony. I created a filter that said to foreword a copy of every 
outgoing email to myself. (Really dumb!) The next thing I know, kmail is 
hung and I've lost communications with my mail server. After killing 
kmail, I also got the kill the 100+ messages in my inbox. ;-) Kmail does 
have the ability to drop email into folders, but only local ones. Perhaps 
in a later version.
