I'm sorry that I don't use RedHat but if you do have the "hotplug"
service on your system you should have an "/etc/hotplug" directory on
your system. I only had to add my own usermap entry for my DC4900 to
the /etc/hotplug/usb.usermap file.
You can use "ghoto2" to get a list of the various "usbcam" usermap
entries for all of the cameras "gphoto2" supports. To get a list use
the "--print-usb-usermap" option. You mentioned your camera is a Kodak
EasyShare DX3900 so that would be the user map with a vendor id of
0x040a and there is a product ID but since I don't have a DX3900 I'm
not sure what the product ID is exactly.
With your camera in the dock, press the button on the dock and then when
your logged in as root run "lsusb". Can you see your camera in the list
of detected USB devices? You can get the product ID from that list.
