I have WP/8 working on one of my systems running the current Debian stable
(Woody). The only problem I had with it was that it would seg-fault
everytime I tried to fire it up after the initial upgrade to Woody. After
much hair pulling and assorted incantations of a four letter variety :-)
I realized that it was failing because it couldn't find some font or fonts
it apparently requires. Eventually, I discovered and tried the
"-useISOFonts" command line option, for starting the program and it has
worked fine ever since. Interestingly, it only seems to require the
"-useISOFonts" option some of the time, the rest of the time it fires up
without the option. ldd command shows the following library dependencies
for the main program (xwp):
libXt.so.6 => /usr/i486-linuxlibc1/lib/libXt.so.6 (0x40015000)
libX11.so.6 => /usr/i486-linuxlibc1/lib/libX11.so.6 (0x40058000)
libXpm.so.4 => /usr/lib/libc5-compat/libXpm.so.4 (0x400f9000)
libm.so.5 => /lib/libm.so.5 (0x40107000)
libc.so.5 => /lib/libc.so.5 (0x40110000)
libSM.so.6 => /usr/i486-linuxlibc1/lib/libSM.so.6 (0x401ce000)
libICE.so.6 => /usr/i486-linuxlibc1/lib/libICE.so.6 (0x401d7000)
FWIW
