I just run the gmpconfig utility, it allows for immediate testing (run
it from a console, check the mouse behavior in the console, then switch
to the x-server and test mouse behavior there), and restarts the gpm
server when it is done.

Doing a "/etc/init.d/gpm restart" might be enough to get the mouse
change to take.
