[PLUG] Info on format for /dev/dsp or /dev/audio

Hmmm... I beginning to wonder if there is something wrong with either
my soundcard configuration, or ???

If I take a .wav file, such as /usr/lib/mozilla/res/samples/test.wav
and play it with either xmms or realplay (RealPlayer) it works fine.
But any "command line" utility I try, such as sox or whatever...
It only works the first time. If I try to reapeat the command, then
I just get noise. It's as if an application such as xmms had to
"set things up" before play (sox) can work.

I wonder if someone could try this sequence and see if it works
for them:

xmms /usr/lib/mozilla/res/samples/test.wav
play /usr/lib/mozilla/res/samples/test.wav
play /usr/lib/mozilla/res/samples/test.wav
play /usr/lib/mozilla/res/samples/test.wav

If more than the first "play" works, then perhaps I've got some kind
of configuration problem.
