[PLUG] Problems Installing Linux on WinNT disk

Thanks for all the help, folks! I did get Linux loaded into the
2nd partition of my 2nd disk, but dual-booting won't work with
this set-up. I had to use fdisk set up swap and native Linux
partitions (Disk Druid would allow it) and the RedHat 7.1 install
process took a couple of tries (it locked up just prior to
actually loading files.)
The dual boot did not work I think because I couldn't get LILO to
write a proper boot record into the Linux partition (which starts
at the 21st GB of that 40GB disk.) It kept giving me a warning
that the boot area was not on the first disk, but otherwise
seemed to work. However, when I tried to copy the boot record
into a file with dd, the resulting file would not boot Linux when
used with Win2K's boot loader.
Anyway I can boot Linux from a floppy when I need it, so at least
my first objective (to load Linux without hosing Windows2000) has
been achieved. Someday when I'm smarter I'll tackle the dual-boot
problem again. Setting up a dual boot machine seems very simple
in theory, but in practice there's a lot of variables among the
infinite number of configurations and one needs some genreal
experience to recognize problems.
