Give Konstruct a try:
http://konsole.kde.org/konstruct/

I'm using it right now and installed it to try out the new KDE 3.1.

It's a tool that fetches and builds (compiles) all the KDE packages and
their dependencies (not all of them, though). It installs into:
~/kde3.1.1 by default, so uninstalling is just a matter of removing that
directory.
