Although I haven't had a chance to use this editor yet, I hope to use it for
the same purpose. It should actually be overkill for lecture cleanup.

Subject: [PLUG] Sound editors

Can anyone recommend a good sound editor for Linux? I set up a SuSe 8.1
box for a friend who does part time work recording lectures at various
churches. After recording them, he has to edit them to clean them up and
sometimes to compress them to fit on a CD so that the church can
distribute them.

Currently he has to reboot MSWindows to do this but would prefer to stay
in Linux. The features he needs include good quality configurable speach
compression, the ability to remove misc pops, click, background noise,
etc. while still keeping the over all quality of the lecture. Also to be
able to adjust the level and tonal quality of questions from the audience
so that the person who listens to the CD can understand them. His work
usually is better than most of the commercial services the churches have
tried.

Any suggestions for software like this in Linux? I haven't found anything
on the SuSe disk set. I haven't had time to explor the internet yet.
