Thanks Rich.  I'd gotten that far.  

What I really want to see is demo of taking some useful, available
data like a USGS DEM, and doing something interesting and cool with
it, like visualizing a topography.  I've seen some really cool screen
shots, but have no idea how to reproduce them.  Such a demo would give
me a clue about operational details.
