Not a complete solution, but I'm running flexbackup to make a uniquely
named, compressed file for disk to disk copy of the /home directory.
After that I copy it to a shared CD-ROM drive that I write several
backups on before it fills.

While I'm not happy with the way I'm writing the CD, flexbackup does a
great job of making my backups.
