[PLUG] GNU hats make good advertising!

I was in the grocery store this evening, and as I walked up to the
checkout line, the bagger asks me what my hat means, the baseball cap
with the big yellow GNU on it. I give him my standard reply, which is
that it's a free software project. He's never heard of that but asks
if it is related to the animal, and I say that they use the animal as
a kind of mascot. And then I mention the bit about GNU not actually
being pronounced that way, that apparently in native language it has a
click in it like the Bushmen language has. Then I turn around and the
checker tells me that he's got Debian GNU/Linux CD's at home but
couldn't install in on his laptop. Something about the winmodem he
thinks. After a little diagnosis of what might be thwarting his
attempts, I realize that I'm not going to solve the problem in the
checkout line, and so I tell him about the clinic and tell him where
it is and when it meets. He writes it all down.

Seems like pretty good market penetration when the checker at the
grocery store is interested in running a GNU system. It's not just
for hackers anymore.
