[PLUG] xdm console option?

I'm too lazy, I mean busily occupied with important jobs, to install and se 
for myself- does the login screen for xdm have a console option? KDM does, 
but not GDM, unless I'm missing something. I'm still futzing with 'the many 
ways to start and stop x'
