[PLUG] Is PHP a good intro programming language?

Yes/No/Maybe.

Php is good if you want to learn some basic fundamentals of programming
and have a purpose (creating dynamic content on a webpage..)

O'Reilly PHP Cookbook (just got it...) is nice... but for a new person my
php in "24 hours" book is still a nice basic intro to it with daily
lessons.
