[PLUG] jazz install etc

Hello,
         I am brand new to this whole linux thing. 
The main reason I use my computer is for midi
sequencing.  I have a program called jazz that I got
off of a cd.  I tried to install it, but when I try to
run it, I get a message telling me to set the
environment variable.  I tried to do this based on the
instructions in a text file in the program, and also
from a lycos tutorial, but have been unable to get it
to run.  I would realy like to be able to use the
sequencing program.  Any sugestions or advice?
