It always seemed to me [1] that programming in Perl is a bit like playing
the guitar: it's an instrument that requires little effort to become
passably mediocre at, but it's damned tough to master. Then again, pretty
much any programming language will be tough to master, and once you master
one, you usually can move on to the others with significantly less effort.
