I saw something I thought was a flash device plugged into the IDE or SCSI
port of a test box the other day. I'll make inquiries and report back.

Subject: [PLUG] Smart Media writer?

Been looking for an ide reader/writer for a standalone project like so
http://www.mydigitaldiscount.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=43&osC
sid=dcc3ce82045d703688ed3bd68d863820

The media will allow the thin client to boot linux. But I need a writer for

the development (kernel compiling) machine. Internal ide is preferred, and
it'd be nice if it could accept many of the smart media/cf forms. The one
above seems to do only CF I/II & IBM MicroDrive.

The "all-in-one" writers/readers seem to all require software drivers, and
none specify Linux.

Presumably, an ide-interface won't require drivers, but haven't yet found an

all-in-one ide that allows hotplug.

Have seen inetrnal usb units, but they seem to require drivers as
well--haven't yet consulted the usb compatibility list...

Q: Anyone using such a thing happily?
