[PLUG] Failed boot and no startx

Can I rm all files in tmp without causing any problems?  There is all
sorts of crude in there.  One file called rhl-gsg-en-80.pfd is 4G alone

  Easy. Large temporary files. Now run (as root):

ls -l / | less

and you'll see what's taking all that space on the root filesystem.
