  I have failed to communicate clearly. The 'dd' command ran to completion.
However, being the paranoid that I am, I like to confirm that anything
written to a floppy disk was done properly. Therefore, when the 'dd' command
returned, I tried to mount the floppy so I could list the contents. That's
why I was getting the messages about the filesystem type not being specified
or discernable to the system.

  However, using Rob's suggestion of comparing md5sums between the floppy
contents and the checksums provided on the Slackware site I was able to
verify both that the 'dd' command worked properly and just which file was on
the diskette.
