[PLUG] Sendmail - local mail delivery problem solved

With my new Red Hat 8 installation, I had no problems getting mail in and
out, but local mail would go undelivered. Instead of showing the relay as
"localhost" it would tack on the the domain "localhost.lankow.net" and
resolve that to an external IP. It would time out during the connection,
never deliver the mail.

As soon as I updated Sendmail from 8.12.5 to 8.12.8, the problem vanished.
The relay name returned to localhost, the messages are delivered in the
wink of an eye. I pass that on in case anyone else has the same issue.
