[PLUG] Hard Disk Partitioning

I want to create three .ext3 partitions on my system.
One of these partitions is already formatted as .ext3,
but it is occupied by data I want to erase. Could I
use
mke2fs -j /dev/hdxx to do this? (I know that it will
work with a partition that does not yet have a
format.)

I would also like to make two .ext3 partitions from
one large one that is now reiserfs. This partition is
at the end of the drive. If this is done using parted,
I suppose I need to remove this partition, create two
.ext2 partitions in the resulting free space, and use
tune2fs -j /dev/hdxx to create the journal. Is this
indeed the correct approach?
