Tyler,

  The "advantage" is communicating with the unwashed masses who still use
Microsoft products. They not only provide templates and other documents in a
winWord format, but many want products delivered to them in a winWord
format. Ergo, OO.o or AbiWord.

  FWIW, OO.o suffers terribly in comparison with WordPerfect. However,
Dollar Bill did his historical job of killing it off. First, he bought a big
financial stake in Corel to "save" the company. Then he killed WordPerfect
-- at least for linux if not all together, then he sold his stake and left
Corel to flounder on the wave-beaten coast. Another -- better quality --
competitor gone.
