Folks,
This just came in from Chip Rosenthal in Texas, who has been
working their open source bill. I know that I've seen a few
posts on this issue (below) here, so I presume there are people
here who are already working this new threat.
Anyway, whomever it is that's taking up the fight against "super
DMCA" here, please read this and get in contact with Chip.
Isn't politics fun? It's like a game of whack 'em moles....

Not about open source ... do you know anybody in Oregon that is
interested in fighting the Super DMCA there? You may have read
about it ... the MPAA is going state-by-state trying to get this
really nasty law against doing anything your network service
provider doesn't expressly allow.
We (EFF-Austin) are making some progress here in Texas. If there
are some people in Oregon who are interested in doing the same,
we can pass along some of what we learned.
I'll attach an email from our point person on that legislation.
P.S. Ken, love the Newsforge article. I'll make sure Sen. Carona
knows about it.
