Jack the Ripper I have heard works pretty well.
Thank you,
Eric

Subject: [PLUG] Crack on /etc/shadow
I would like to test the passwords of users on my
systems with Crack, and being Red Hat 7.x, 8.0 and 9
machines, the passwords are stored in /etc/shadow. I
can't figure out how to do this.
I copied /etc/shadow to my crack directory, and tried
"./Crack shadow.txt" but it didn't like the format. I
tried manually copying the encrypted passwords to
password.txt (copy of /etc/passwd) but it didn't like
it either. I noticed that the encrypted passwords are
34 characters long, but examples I've seen in
documentation are only 13 characters or so, which
might be a clue.
