[PLUG] SNMP Browser?

My boss at work wants me to do some research concerning SNMP --
specifically, to identify some SNMP browsers, & software that
enables use of the Simple Netowrk Management Protocol.

>From what I know about SNMP, it is a protocol more honored in
the breach than in the practice: years ago, I worked for a company
that used SNMP in some of its products -- but as I was given to
understand -- only certain portions of the spec, & the for the rest
of the protocol they relied on various work-arounds.

Can anyone furnish some references to show that I am wrong about
SNMP, or perhaps provide an example or two of SNMP browsers?
