[PLUG] The Phantom of the Opera

  I just discovered that when the opera browser is started it checks the
company's Web site in the background! As soon as the application came up
there was a dialog box in the middle of the window telling me that a new
version of opera is available. And, it asked, do I want to download a copy
of 7.23 to replace my 7.21?

  Not sure I like this behavior. What else is it transmitting unbeknownst to
me?
