Jeme,
(1) I liked your posting. I am generally uneasy about new laws
in part because of laws tend to have many unintended consequences.
I'm afraid that any anti-spam legislation could possibly ban a lot
of legitimate communication, while encouraging at least some
of the spam the legislation is aimed at.
(2) Thus, I tend to think the best solutions to our spam problems are
technical.
(3) In terms of getting a PLUG-spam or PLUG-email list, we create one
if people wanted. Do you think there would be enough long term
interest in such a list to justify it. Personally, I wouldn't
limit the list to discussion of spam; but rather expand it to
any mail problems including technical discussions of potential
solutions.
