Did you actually use a GUI for it?

The way it works with the .forward file containing | procmail is
sendmail receives the mail, sees the user wants it piped through
procmail, sends it to procmail, which sees you want it piped through
spamassassin then delived to your inbox *if* it doesn't match the Spam
header line, added by spamassassin if it thinks it is spam.
