OK, I'm clueless. why is this NOT working?

It appears that someone (probably a spam generating virus) send a 
message to dduncan at hexi.com.

His verifier didn't recognized the sending address, and so responded 
with the correct email.

What's not working? Would this not stop most spam from getting to him?
