I agree.  Posting exclusively to say that something is off topic is
always, in itself, off topic.  Bonus points is it makes the person
doing it look about as bright as the average AOL user.  procmail is
your friend.

Especially if you use a MUA that understands threads properly (using
the References header or equivilent, instead of subject).  This is
also a good reason *NOT* to start a new thread by hitting reply in
another thread:  It appears as topic drift mid-thread to people with
non-broken MUAs[1].


[1] IMHO, your MUA is broken if it doesn't, at the very least, support
proper threading and have Reply-to-List.
