[PLUG] Different versions of gtk and glib...

I'm going through a YoLinux tutorial on gtk and am wondering why Redhat
7.3 has three versions of glib, multiple gtk versions, etc.

There are also multiple glib devel packages.

I haven't installed gtk+10, is this the most recent version?

Does the glib package allow the gtk stuff to link properly providing
the gtk-config tool to link the libraries in? Can all versions of
gtk be installed together? What reason would there be to have an
older version of gtk around and how would you select a specific
version at compile time?
