[PLUG] Graphic file shrinking

I have a Web page that I printed to a disk file (*.ps). Then I trimmed
away the unwanted text and other stuff which left the image itself. That I
ran through ps2eps. No problems here.

However, the file size is 25M! I've tried loading it in xfig and tgif to
see if I can find out why it's so large and if it's possible to reduce the
size while not messing up the image itself. Neither application will display
it; only a box with the fully qualified file name.

Because ps and eps are vector formats I suspect that The GIMP would not do
a very good job of manipulating the image without removing clarity or
otherwise degrading it.

I know that some of you have extensive graphics experience so I'm looking
for advice on whether such a large file might contain bloat that could be
removed and, if so, how I would go about doing this.

TIA,

Rich
