[PLUG] Odd spam behavior in pine

This is from the "How do they do _that_?" department...

I use pine to read email.  I just got an email a few minutes ago which was 
from someone I didn't recognize, but the subject was a subject of an 
earlier email in my inbox.  So out of curiosity I opened it up and found 
out it was just a spam for 'herbal viagra'.  I closed it and then noticed 
that no subject was now shown in my inbox for this message (it was just 
blank).

So, how does that work?
