G'mornin', Folks...

I've tried, in my naive way, to install this pkg. thus: hda1 = /boot @
20MB; hda5 = / @ 1.7GB; hda6 = /home @400MB; hda7 = swapspace2 @ 2x
SDRAM; 2.1GB Unallocated. Hdb = Win2k w/several partitions. Hda set up
came from "Linux for Windows Addicts" by Michael J. Miller (who no
longer has a valid e-mail adr. as published in his book).

With this partitioning set up, I assumed the /boot would be the
partition that all boot-related files would go into, however, when I
bootup, I don't get any OS choice. To switch from Win2k to Linux, or
vise versa, I have to either edit the default hdd in my BIOS, or leave
it set to the Win2k hdd & use a floppy to get to Linux. What's wrong
that I don't get the boot menu? Is there some file that needs to be
hand-edited, & if so what are the needed commands?

Maybe my 1st question ought to be ... am I following descent
recommendations, or not???

Ain't it fun dealing with a neophyte???? I've forgotten all the
commands to using vi & emacs from 20+ yrs ago, so is there a more
word-like text editor to use in Linux? My text editor of choice in DOS
was QEdit... but don't know how to access it on hdb.

Thanks for any & all serious help... humor can come later, please... all
I'd need is tongue-in-cheek being taken as sound advice... :-)
Dave
