It's already happened.  And we've moved on.  There were three worms,
all somewhat successful, all exclusive to Red Hat and derived
distros.  Number still in the wild today, 5 years later?  Zero.  We
already know it can be done, Unix just proves to be a seriously
hostile environment for viruses since most people still don't log in
as root and run more than they have to (you really don't have a reason
to log in as root, just su -m to run the commands you need as root
From your normal user.  Or better yet, get something like sudo and use
that.).

This only proves it's possible on OSX, not that there is actually
something in the wild getting loose.
