Type uname -a, I believe alternatively that there is a way to get this 
through
/proc also.

Anyone know of an online course that goes through setting up a Linux
system on a network server that can network boot workstations in order
to install or restore software on them?  I've gotten as far as building a
netbootable kernel, now I need to figure out how to build the root
system.  I want to learn how to do this professionally with a goal of
becoming a Linux instructor teaching others how to deploy Linux.
