Actually most of the important ones will be caught by kudzu at boot time.
The only difficulty is if he changes video cards and has the default run
level set to 5. (i.e. booting into X.) To fix that you have to boot in
single user mode and change the runlevel to something sane, like 3. (DON'T
set it to 6. Double-plus ungood.) I don't believe kudzu fixes a change in
videocards correctly in X.
